These past two weeks have been spent working late hours at the LAC-USC Medical Center in Los Angeles. The clinical rotations at the County hospital are really great. The only problem is that there are not too much sleeping going on these past few weeks. If you recall I just finished up November at Harbor UCLA. Now that place is a work dogs paradise and coming to LAC-USC is a little bit of a slow down except that I am working over this week because of the great surgical cases that are coming up later in the evening.

For those that do read this little blog you will have to forgive me a bit for talking about what is happening around here once and a while. Usually I try to keep things here at ‘The Average Man’ focused on general subjects and not on strictly personal narrative. That can be so boring to read and very tedious to write. I never was much for “diary writing” you know…too much of a girly thing it seems to me. Back to the point of this post. Now that I am doing senior rotations as a nurse anesthetist student the cases that I am getting are more complex and for the most part I am doing them by myself. Now that is very cool. After all of the hard work, studying and preparing for this adventure of becoming a nurse anesthetist it is all paying off finally. I am so happy these days doing good work and really performing well in a difficult nursing specialty. Enough of this.

In the next week or so I have a few plans. A few subjects have been interesting me and I wanted to discuss them with those that are interested. After getting a message from Ruben about a google search he did I followed up with a little inquiry of my own. In google.com try searching for “The Average man” and see what comes up. You would be amazed at the links. There is even another blog with a similar title, “Thoughts of An Average Man” or something like that. Some bloke in England it seems had a brainstorm and came up with an idea for his blog. Anyway, I am going to be exploring what it means to be An Average Man. I am sure that you have been wondering all about this for a while now and it seems that the time has come to explain all. Stay tuned for the next adventure in the Average Man.

Today I heard from Brian Le my senior classmate that just graduated and moved to Bangor Maine to practice anesthesia in an all CRNA practice. Bangor Maine……could he have found a further place to move, the question came up several times? Brian is a traveling man. As a matter of fact his email address is ‘distantlands’ at generic email.com/ Well Brian, distant is a good term for Bangor.

When the time comes to graduate from anesthesia school I may be looking for a place to move that will have great nurse anesthesia practice autonomy but Bangor may not be first on the list. However, I will go and see Brian next spring and swing by his hospital to check it out. After all the fishing is good and you can ski almost year round…..is that a good thing. The latest reports from Brian are that the snow is falling but not sticking around very long and this was at Thanksgiving time. The sailing and fishing off of the coast is legendary I will say so it has that going for it. My favorite pastime – bicycle riding may be a little tough in the cold weather but it is worth a try. After all life is an adventure.

Looking at the coast line off of Maine you have to think that the call of ‘distantlands’ does sing loudly. A visit to Brian is in order soon. Thanks buddy for the pictures and keep the email coming.

The web site, “davidgodden.com” and “The Average Man” blog is finally up and running on the new servers at IX WebHosting. The bugs and little annoyances of moving to a new server have become an interesting exercise in patience. The people at WordPress have been great and the service at IX WebHosting is terrific. This morning is the first time that I have been able to get everything in order and have it work.

The old web blog ‘The Extremist‘ has been reconfigured and is available for viewing as well on the site. Looking back at some of the stuff on there makes me laugh a little but it was a good start with blogging and playing around with web sites. Some of the posts on ‘The Extremist’ go back a couple of years. During the last year that I have migrated to WordPress the quality of the web site has improved greatly. Maybe the content has not but the presentation is better.

For those that are still following the antics of ‘The Extremist’ I can tell you that I just switched servers and am now on a TOP FLIGHT web host. The problem with moving is that all of the links and things are a tough nut to straighten out.
