Chinese New Year 2008

Posted by: David | Comments (0)

The Year of the (Earth) Rat began with the full moon this month. The Chinese New Year celebrations are family times and we had all aboard for the festivities here. Jennifer’s parents and Aunt and Uncle are visiting from Shanghai and my mom arrived by plane from Denver too. During these few days of holiday with family all around we had another event that should be noted as well. Jo Jo our little Brussels Giffon had a birthday too. He is now 2 years old.

Today was really warm here in the San Gabriel Valley with temps upwards into the 80′s. The Chantry Flats road was open so I took my mom and Jennifer’s Aunt and Uncle up to see the Valley from a little elevation. The view was pretty good although we could not see the Pacific from here we were able to see all across the Valley down to Los Angeles.

Super Tuesday?

Posted by: David | Comments (0)

Super Tuesday Village Voice CartoonWent to the Polling Place today to vote…did you? What I found out was that I was registered as a booooooo Republican. OMG when did that happen. Well, somewhere back when I was really encouraged with “The Terminator” and the recall of our democratic disaster Governor here in California.

Certainly I am not a classical Republican and I was a bit disappointed this evening when I could not vote in the Democratic Primary but as I see it whatever Democrat is the nominee for President he/she will get my vote!  Change and Experience YES!

So who did I vote for as a Republican. The only moderate and rebel on the ballet is John McCain.

Back to the results and CNN for all of the results of Super Tuesday.

Thanks to the Village Voice for the cartoon which is linked to their web site.

Cyling Pigs Ride Again

Posted by: David | Comments (0)

The Register’s Annual Great Ride Across Iowa (RAGBRAI) is coming up in July and the Cycling Pigs are again ready to ride. Last year the Fiersom Foursome, Nancy, Russ, Juli and myself were the Cycling Pig ambassadors from the San Gabriel Valley. We did a pretty good job of representing our area. As many of you know Lance Armstrong and the Live Strong riders were there is force. Iowa will never be the same.

This year the Cycling Pigs are at it again. So far there are seven riders who will be enjoying themselves for the week long ride across Iowa. The route is out and from what I hear will be a little hillier than last year with a total of 22.,000 plus feet of climbing over the seven day period. Again, the total millage will be just under 500 miles which will make for very pleasant days on the road.

Yesturday I finally uploaded the pictures from last years RAGBRAI adventure to flickr. You can see all of the pictures here.

This year I promise to keep a regular log going over the week and post pictures as they happen. I have bee taking a break as you can see from all of the blogging but will never the less keep up with this event.

For a full report on all that is related to the Cycling Pigs, check out their website from the link above or just do a Google search.  Ciao!

WordPress Upgrade

Posted by: David | Comments (0)

My time for a little site maintenance has finally arrived.  The new version of Word Press was uploaded today Yipppeeeee!  All of this without a bit of trouble I am expecting.  So does this mean that I will be posting some more….hahaha……you mean post something AT ALL finally?

Well yes, I do think that my hiatus is over and that I will be posting more to the blog.  What has kept me away for so long is not something that is even clear to me.  I do look at the site daily but just have not had the interest in posting.  Just a phase of the moon thing or something else more sinister?  Its up to you to decide.

SPAM!  I can not tell you how much comment spam I have been getting.  Luckily the filter I have has caught all of it but I still have to go in and delete it all which gets to be very tiring.  This new version of Word Press even has a spell checker.  Another reason to upgrade to the latest version.

More later.  Right now I have to make sure everything is working as it should.  Thanks Matt!
