Cornel West in Hollywood

Cornel West is one of this nations most outstanding intellectuals. I heard an interview with him this afternoon conducted by Kitty Felde on KPCC the National Public Radio station in Pasadena.

There will be a book signing tomorrow evening in Hollywood that is a MUST go to event. Cornel West will be there signing his new book, “Democracy Matters: Winning the Fight Against Imperialism” (The Penguin Press). I guess that an introduction is necessary to some of the readers here.

I have to confess that Cornel West is not a person that I have known about until recently as well. This is one of the most interesting individuals, one of the greatest intellectual minds of the this and the last century. Are you interested yet in finding out about him?

Cornel West, Professor of Religion and African American Studies at Princeton University, is one of America’s most gifted, provocative, and important public intellectuals. Dr. West has won numerous awards, including the American Book Award, and has received more than 20 honorary degrees.

His work has been described as a polemical weapon that attempts to transform linguistic, social, cultural, and political tradition to increase the scope of individual development and democratic actions. West’s writing, speaking, and teaching weaves together the American traditions of the Baptist Church, transcendentalism, socialism, and pragmatism. In a word, he is incredible!

Cornell West will be signing his book tomorrow night, Saturday, September 18 at 5 pm at Barnsdall Art Park, 4800 Hollywood Blvd. Be there or be square!
